  • Pine Ridge has undergone some major improvements in the last year and a half that reflect very well on the Principal Tom Russell who was appointed in 2007. He is trying very hard to improve the image of the school. He is doing a lot to protect student programs from the budget cuts, he gives good talks and shares life lessons with troubled teens and tries very hard to get them to succeed, lockdowns and fights have decreased dramatically since he came in, he has done a lot to promote voter registration for those turning 18, he has supported community activities for students, he has expanded the foreign language programs in the school, also you can even find him picking up the trash around campus! He has not given up on Pine Ridge. and Russell’s performance as Principal has been in stark contrast to what Pine Ridge has had in the past with its previous 3 Principals. All of whom either did not know how to run a school and/or did not care at all about it or the students and simply wanted the paycheck.
